SCOREBOOK

Thanks for buying our ScoreBook, it’s a great way to get to know your team, their numbers and their positions and to get into the game of baseball in general. Please use this book however you'd like or as simply as you'd like. Score booth teams. or just your own teams side of things or use it as a keep sake for your son or daughters at bats. It's up to you, but let me walk you through a basic way of how to use it.

First things first, take a second to glance at the legends on the first few pages behind the "home" side cover to get familiar with common scoring abbreviations.

You’re going to start on the black side, which is the “away” team’s side, because the away team always bats first.

Next fill out your game log with Teams, Dates, Field and Home & Away Pitchers where indicated.

Turn the page and fill out the away team batting lineup. Go ahead and fill in their name, jersey number (to the left of their name) and their position number (to the right of their name). You can reference the legend on the inside cover of the “home side” for position numbers.

Across from your away team batting lineup is the Example Page to give you an idea of what your scoring will look like per inning. Let me walk you through that:

1B:
As usual Charlie Hustle is gonna get on base, this time was no different with a nice little choke and poke single to right field. Darken the dash line to first base. In the base area to the right write 1B.

K:
Everyone knows the story Might Casey's powerful Whiff. Strike 3! Mark this epic strikeout with a "K" in the middle of your diamond and Mark 1 out in the space left of the diamond.

F8:
Teddy Ballgame hits fly ball deep to center field. It looks like it has the distance, but the center fielder catches it at the wall. Teddy Ballgame hit a fly ball to center field. Mark F8 in the middle of your diamond “F” for “Fly Out” and “8” for the center fielder position. Mark 2 outs.

HR:
The Bambino blasts a towering shot to right field, way back… way back… IT’S GONE! HOME RUN! Darken the dash line around the bases and fill in the diamond. In the base area to the right write HR.

G3:
Joltin Joe hits a ground ball to the first baseman, ending the inning with the 3rd out. Mark G3 in the middle of your diamond “G” for “Ground Out” and “3” for the 1st baseman position. Mark 3 outs.

TALLY UP THE INNING:

RUNS: The first box is where you tally up your runs. This inning there were two runs: Charlie Hustle was on first base when The Bambino hit his home run which made it a two-run homer.

HITS: The second box is where you tally up your teams hits for the inning, meaning every time one of the batters got a single (1b), double (2b), triple (3b) or a home run (HR). Your hits are marked on the right side of the diamond in the “BASE” area. This inning there were two hits: Charlie Hustle got a 1b (single) and The Bambino hit a HR (home run).

ERR: The third box is where you tally up errors if you want to keep track of them. Errors are normally kept track of on the scoreboard. No errors happened in this inning, but an error occurs when the fielding team should have made an out, but due to an ERROR the batter got on base safely. So if the fielding team had made 2 errors in the inning you would put 2 in this box, but since NO ERRORS were made in this inning we are going to mark 0.

When the TOP of the 1st inning is over (which means the AWAY team got 3 outs, they are done batting) flip your book to the white side AKA the home side. Fill in the batting lineup for the home team in the same way that you did the away team using each players name, jersey number and position number. Now you’re ready to begin scoring the BOTTOM of the first inning (which means the HOME team is up to bat).

Next to the home team batting lineup is a blank lined page for notes, drawings, autographs or whatever you want to use it for.

Keep scoring back and forth between the home and away team until the game is done. Both the Home and Away side meet in the middle with their own stat sheets for you to keep record if you’d like.
